About the Artist
Shasta is a professional body piercer with six years of experience and a lifelong passion for the art of body modification. Her journey began as a teenager, inspired by her older sister, a professional piercer who introduced her to the artistry, precision, and personal connection that define the craft. After assisting in her sister’s studio, Shasta went on to complete a formal apprenticeship and review under Kevin Garetz in Jersey City, setting the foundation for her professional career. Today, she is a proud business member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), upholding the industry’s highest standards for safety and professionalism.
Specializing in ear curations, Shasta has a natural gift for creating cohesive, expressive looks that reflect each client’s personality and style. She has a particular love for conch piercings, which she calls “the centerpiece of the ear” for its versatility and elegance. Her approach centers on comfort, communication, and education, ensuring that every client feels relaxed, informed, and confident from start to finish. With her gentle technique and commitment to trauma-minimizing methods, Shasta often foregoes traditional tools like clamps to prioritize the natural flow of the procedure and the client’s ease.
Shasta currently pierces at Inked NYC in Chelsea, New York, and Club Tattoo in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. She loves working alongside the diverse, world-class team of artists who make each day in the studio creatively inspiring. Whether it’s curating an ear, exploring bold styles, or helping a family create a shared memory through piercing, Shasta approaches every experience with care and artistry. One of her most cherished moments was piercing three generations—grandmother, mother, and granddaughter—an experience that reminded her why this work is so meaningful.
Outside of the studio, Shasta channels her creativity through cosplay, bringing her favorite characters from film, comics, and gaming to life. Clients are often surprised to learn that she’s Muslim, something she proudly embraces as part of her identity. To Shasta, self-expression through piercings and tattoos is not a contradiction to her faith; it’s a celebration of individuality and authenticity.
