Tattoo's Fuel My Passion

My Guardian Angel

My tattoo story started in a small town of Seward, Alaska. At this time I already convinced myself that I wanted ink on my skin, but the most important part was the meaning behind the permanent stain on my body. It was a wild time at the age of 21 years old. Times were fun, but uncertain.

I was a young kid in the U.S. Navy serving as the sixth man on a tactical operations team called VBSS (Visit Board Search & Seizure). We boarded suspected pirate ships and small boats off the coast of Somalia. I decided one drunken day in the port of Seward, Alaska that I would put an angel on my back to protect me from the uncertain times ahead of me.

"I would put an angel on my back to protect me from the uncertain times ahead of me."

A Soul to Save

During my time in the Navy I learned how to live in the moment because there may never be another. I was living in Waikele, Hawaii when I decided to get my second tattoo. With thoughts of my impending departure from life I decided my second tattoo was going to be a traditional Navy tattoo of Swallows on my chest. The saying is, if you were to die out to sea, swallows would lift up your soul to the heavens.

My Passion

Luckily my guardian angel had my back and I’m here to tell my tattoo story. My latest string of tattoos consists of a collage of pieces formed into a three quarter sleeve of what I’m most passionate about in life. Music. From the first guitar my father gave me all the way to the speakers that rumble the sounds of goodness. This is the first tattoo that peaked through my shirt sleeve showing people who I really am. A musician.

The Story Lives On

The story of my tattoos remains a constant reminder to myself… To stay humble, have faith, and live out my dreams. I’m excited for the tattoo stories I’ll have to share in the future. For now, this is mine. I want to thank Club Tattoo for this opportunity to share my story. Looking forward to hearing yours.
