Plaid has been in the body piercing world for 24 years, and it shows. An early fascination with body modification set the course, and when the timing was right, the stars aligned — and piercing became the path. After completing a traditional apprenticeship (at a shop that’s long since closed), Plaid continued to evolve through ongoing education and mentorships with some of the industry’s best. Today, he’s an APP member of over 10 years, trusted for his expertise and respected for his calm, confident presence in the studio.
Working out of Club Tattoo in Tempe, AZ, Plaid specializes in ear curations — custom arrangements that make the most of each person’s unique anatomy. He thrives on creating something bold, personalized, and balanced, especially when it involves statement jewelry and thoughtful placement.
Plaid’s philosophy is all about minimizing trauma and maximizing comfort. The piercing itself? As fast and gentle as possible. Aftercare? Explained thoroughly so clients leave empowered and informed. His go-to technique? Breathing with the client, keeping energy steady and stress low.
Inspired by the ability to help people align their outer look with their inner identity, Plaid sees piercing as more than just aesthetic — it’s self-expression, healing, and transformation. He credits his influences to mentors and pioneers like Trevor Thomas, Pat Tidwell, Steve Haworth, and Chase Campbell, who helped shape his style and technique over the years.
One thing’s for sure: no two appointments are the same, and Plaid treats every client like their story matters. “I try to make every experience meaningful — you could be next.”
Outside the studio, Plaid keeps his hands and head busy with photography, motorcycles, and shooting pool. He’s got terrible handwriting, a collection of wild industry stories, and a deep appreciation for the return of 90s and early 2000s piercings — from eyebrows to tongues and everything in between.
If you want a piercer who brings experience, clarity, and great energy into the room — Plaid is your guy.
