About the Artist
Pat’s piercing journey started with rebellion — and a nostril ring. After getting kicked out of school for having his nose pierced, he doubled down and decided to become a piercer himself. He never looked back. After completing an apprenticeship in Dallas, TX, he’s been piercing professionally for 29 years — and has spent every one of them pushing standards, building skill, and shaping the culture.
Today, Pat is a proud member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) and works out of Club Tattoo in Tempe, Arizona. He’s known as one of the first freehand, all-disposable piercers in the industry — a title that speaks to his commitment to safety, precision, and technique long before it became standard.
Pat doesn’t play favorites — he says, “Give me a body part, and I’ll love pokin’ it.” Whether it’s ears, navels, or more advanced work, he approaches every piercing with calm energy, comfort-first care, and a steady hand that comes from nearly three decades in the game.
He draws early inspiration from John Cobb, a piercing pioneer who influenced Pat’s decision to go fully freehand, and says what keeps him going is having a studio that supports his passion. At Club Tattoo, he appreciates the leadership of owner Sean Dowdell, a former piercer himself who built a studio where the standard of care and artistry is second to none.
One of Pat’s most memorable piercings? A client who lost a beloved pet bird of 20+ years — and wanted to turn the bird’s leg cuff into an earring in remembrance. It was sad, sweet, and deeply personal — the kind of story that reminds Pat why this work matters.
Outside the studio, Pat’s world is more zen. He loves making candles, relaxing with his wife and cats, and finding peace in the simple stuff. And here’s something that surprises most clients: he’s been piercing longer than some of them have been alive.
When it comes to trends? Don’t ask. Pat’s all about authenticity: “I can’t stand trends. Lead. Don’t follow.”
If you’re looking for a piercer with experience, integrity, and a whole lot of stories, Pat is one of the real ones.
